Bucs come back from 5 runs down, take series with Catamounts

JOHNSON CITY — Jordan Sanford and Zach Thompson combined for six RBIs, Connor Bartow and Chris Cook registered 2 2-3 scoreless innings out of the bullpen and the East Tennessee State baseball team rallied for a 10-7 win over Southern Conference rival Western Carolina on Sunday at Thomas Stadium.The Bucs fell behind by five runs early but Thompson’s bases-clearing triple ignited a four-run sixth inning and Sanford smacked a three-run homer in the seventh.Bartow (1-0) earned his first collegiate win with 1 1-3 innings of three-hit ball.Kingsport’s Cook got his first save by striking out all four hitters he faced.ETSU (16-27, 5-10) — held to six runs and eight hits in the first two games of the series — pounded out 11 hits on Sunday.
