PRINCETON, W.Va. (AP) — A Bluefield man has been sentenced to 40 years in prison on charges stemming from the death of his infant son. Media outlets report that 24-year-old Cassidy Byrd was sentenced on Monday in Mercer County Circuit Court. Byrd was convicted of child abuse and involuntary manslaughter following a trial in March. His 8-week-old son, Ethan Byrd, died in April 2014.
