Fireworks law has officials on their toes

With the Fourth of July just days away, and a new fireworks law making things more difficult than ever, authorities are preparing for the worst. House Bill 110, which becomes law Wednesday, allows Georgia residents to buy and light aerial fireworks. These include sky rockets, bottle rockets, missile-type rockets, helicopter and aerial spinners, roman candles, multi-aerial mine and shell devices, aerial shell kits, reloadables and firecrackers. While some of Georgia’s neighboring states like South Carolina and Alabama have been involved in the use of aerial fireworks for years, the law is new to Georgia, and moreover, Savannah. The new law allows these fireworks to be used from 10 a.m.
