Comment on Charleston auto dealer celebrates 40 years of Volvo sales

Staff reports CHARLESTON, W.Va. - Smith Company Motor Cars is celebrating decades of successful sales in Charleston.On Tuesday, Jed Smith, the owner of Smith Company, held a dinner to celebrate 40 years of selling Volvo vehicles to West Virginians.Smith, his wife, Vicki, several top Volvo executives and about 22 dealership employees gathered at Berry Hills Country Club to mark the occasion.Smith said the fact that the dealership - which he took over in 1990 - has been selling Volvos for 40 years and Mercedes Benz for 50 years is a testament to the company's success."It basically says that we made it through thick and thin over the years," he said.
