Kanawha domestic violence court's future uncertain

By Tyler Bell Kanawha County's domestic violence court, a "boutique" court specializing specifically in domestic violence cases, was born out of the need to curb the sometimes deadly violence between loved ones in the state. Though it boasts early success in treating domestic offenders and curtailing deadly interspousal violence, the program still faces an uncertain future."The day that they were putting the child to rest, we were ironing out the details of a compromise bill between the House and the Senate," said Steve Canterbury, administrative director for the West Virginia Supreme Court, referring to the death of Jahlil Clements, 11.
