Bunnell businessman feeds hunger for drones

For Ryan Beaulieu, owner of DroneWorx of Bunnell, a lifelong hobby with radio-controlled and other techie devices has become a full-time business.“I was 5- or 6-years-old when I got my first radio-controlled car,” Beaulieu said. “In my teenage years, I started flying RC (remote control) planes and helicopters. It stuck with me though college; I've always played with this stuff.”After college, Beaulieu said he raced motocross and ran an online motorcycle parts store, but he got into small unmanned aerial vehicles, or drones, a few years ago as the hobby started to take off thanks to the Nintendo Wii.“Things really came around about 2011 when a gentleman took a Nintendo Wii motion-control video controller apart and deciphered the technology in their accelerometers," Beaulieu said.
