<p>A warning to all the Republican candidates set to face conservative radio host Hugh Hewitt during the Sept. 16 primary debate: study up on national security and defense.</p><p>Hewitt, one of the most well-respected radio hosts in politics, has done at least 70 interviews with the candidates in 2015. Famous for asking specific questions about line items on defense budgets or whether candidates have read “The Looming Tower” by Lawrence Wright, Hewitt said he plans to ask tough questions about security and defense because, he says, that’s what the Republican voters want to hear.</p><p>"A lot of the lead media don’t think Americans pay attention to [defense spending] but they are so wrong.
