Lisa King will be the new executive director of Summit Metro Parks.The park commissioners on Wednesday selected King over five other finalists.She will officially become the executive director when the park board meets at 11:30 a.m. Tuesday at the Seiberling Nature Realm, 1828 Smith Road, Akron.She will be paid $124,000 a year and will serve a one-year probationary contract.She is the first woman to head the county park district that covers 14,100 acres with 16 parks and more than 125 miles of trails.“I am honored and humbled by the appointment and very excited to lead,” said King, a Summit Metro Parks employee since 1998, in a news release.She replaces Keith Shy, who served as director-secretary for 17 years.
