How affluent Florida parents pay for their children’s college costs

Rich Floridians expect to pick up a bigger part of the tab for their children’s college education than the wealthy in other parts of the United States. A survey by BMO Private Bank found that affluent parents in Florida — those with at least $1 million in investible assets — expect the parents’ personal savings would cover 67 percent of their children’s college costs, including tuition, books, supplies and living expenses.
