Richland schools receive $200,000 grant for art installation

RICHLAND, Wash. (AP) — Richland elementary schools are slated to get a bit brighter after four campuses received a total of more than $200,000 to install public art on their grounds. The Tri-City Herald reports (http://bit.ly/1MZktuS ) that the elementary schools received grants from the Washington State Arts Commission. The grants are paid from the state's capital projects budget. The state budgets 0.5 percent of its allocation to build a school to buy artwork. Eight other Richland schools have public art displays, such as stainless steel sculptures and flower and mosaic tiles. ___ Information from: Tri-City Herald, http://www.tri-cityherald.com
