Comment on Lee County man charged with Barley Courts killing

JOHNSON By William Moore Daily Journal TUPELO – A Monday night argument between two men escalated to gunfire at a south Tupelo apartment complex. One man was killed, the other arrested for murder. Tupelo Police Chief Bart Aguirre said someone called 911 around 8:15 p.m. about shots fired. When Tupelo patrol officers arrived at the Barley Court apartments, the Verona Police were already on the scene administering first aid to the victim, Travonte Young, 22, of Tupelo. “Witnesses said the suspect ran into one of the apartments,” said Aguirre.
