Former Cal wide receiver Trevor Davis was selected by Green Bay with the 24th pick of the fifth round (163rd overall) Saturday at the NFL draft in Chicago. The Martinez native was also valuable on special teams, where he led Cal with 686 yards on 32 kick returns and 45 yards on six punt returns. “Any time you can get a weapon in the fifth round, you have to pull the trigger,” Packers director of football operations Eliot Wolf said. More than a dozen workouts with NFL teams later, Davis entered the draft with a fourth-round grade by CBS Sports. In his two seasons with the Bears, the Alhambra High School alum had 2,300 all-purpose yards (1,071 receiving). Davis was second nationally in 2014 with a single season school-record 32.6 yards per kick return. Wide receiver Kenny Lawler, tight end Stephen Anderson and running back Daniel Lasco entered the weekend projected as mid-round selections.
