Best moments from the last day of BottleRock

The rock veterans even did a cover of Friday headliner Stevie Wonder’s “Higher Ground” as well as their latest songs, “Dark Necessities” and their forthcoming album’s title track “The Getaway” — new tunes the band shared online just a day before when it announced the new album’s release date of June 17. The Denver band (whose members didn’t mention their hometown baseball team’s loss) drew fans young and old with its uber catchy indie folk tunes, which seemed particularly fitting as the sun set. Frontman Sam Harris jumped around hyping up fans and never missed a beat as he went from the mike to the saxophone for the band’s hits, including “Hang On” and “Fear” (sans Imagine Dragons). Other notable moments on Sunday included a hyped set by Gypsy Punk’s Gogol Bordello; a performance by Andrew McMahon in the Wilderness that brought back memories of being in elementary school as fans played parachute games during the set; Ozomatli, whose band members jumped into the crowd and continued playing while roadies took the rest of their equipment off the stage; and the rockin’ cooking demo featuring “Top Chef” alum Michael Voltaggio with Chad Smith of the Red Hot Chili Peppers and the Foo Fighters’ Taylor Hawkins.
