Slave soldiers honored as 'national treasures'

For the first time in history, the U.S. Army recognized 350 soldiers held as slaves inside Nazi Germany, calling them "national treasures" who should never be forgotten. "That's why the Army sent me here: to look them in the eye and tell them that," Maj. Gen. Vincent Boles said. One of the survivors had shed few tears since his captivity in 1945.
