STOCKTON — City Council candidate Sam Fant, who is charged with conspiracy and election fraud, said Thursday that he may request the San Joaquin County District Attorney’s Office be removed as the agency prosecuting his case.If such a request were granted, the state Attorney General’s Office would take over, Fant’s attorney said.The process could also further delay Fant’s preliminary hearing, with the election now 74 days away.
