Colorado Springs Police Department's recruiting push a reflection of low pay, turnover woes

The Colorado Springs Police Department is in need of employees. The department advertised two appeals for applicants Friday, one for police officers and another for emergency response technicians. The job postings paint an attractive package: An officer can earn an annual salary of $47,694 to $72,384, and the ERT can earn between $36,288 and $45,360, to serve a diverse, largely military city of 500,000 residents, the job postings say.
