Wydad Casablanca fall just short of famous Champions League comeback

When John Toshack was given his marching orders by Wydad Casablanca within hours of their stunning semifinal first leg defeat in the African Champions League last week, it seemed an act of capitulation on the part of the Moroccan club's hierarchy. Hammered 4-0 in Alexandria by Zamalek of Egypt, the club's high hopes of winning the top prize on the continent imploded and set off a predictable round of emotive reactions.
