Wounded man charged in shooting case

The El Paso County Sheriff's Office identified Monday the man who appeared last week at the entrance of Fort Carson with gunshot wounds, adding that he is suspected of a shooting near Stratmoor Hills Elementary School. Ulysses Maples, 40, was arrested on suspicion of attempted first-degree murder, felony menacing and possession of a weapon by a previous offender after he was treated for nonlife threatening injuries following a shooting on the 1600 block of Hampton South, the Sheriff's Office said. He's been booked into the El Paso County jail on $250,000 bond after he was released from a hospital. Deputies were dispatched just after 8 p.m. Read more on Colorado Springs Gazette
