UGA student posed as fictional lawman when requesting police ‘backup’

A University of Georgia student was arrested for impersonating a police officer early Saturday after he called 911 to say he was a lawman in need of assistance on a murder case, Athens-Clarke County police said. Aaron Patrick Rzucidlo, 20, reportedly told a police dispatcher he was Sheriff Longmire, the protagonist of the Walt Longmire Mystery series of novels adapted for TV. The UGA student said he “required backup in reference to an unsolved murder case” and needed the assistance of “Deputy Furgeson.” read more
