UGA faces $100K fine for hazardous waste violations

The University of Georgia closed its hazardous waste treatment facility on Will Hunter Road and faces a fine of nearly $100,000 after the federal Environmental Protection Agency cited the university with numerous safety violations in its handling of radioactive and other toxic wastes. The violations involved did not include any releases which might have put anyone in danger, according to UGA.
