OC providing resources for students and professionals

By Wes McKinzie For The OklahomanOklahoma Christian University is providing new resources to help students of all ages succeed. High school and middle school students will compete Saturday in the Baugh Wind Energy Design Competition. The first-year contest, sponsored by OC's College of Engineering and Computer Science, allows students to compete in teams to design, test and present alternative means to wind energy. Kelly Cox, assistant to the dean of the College of Engineering and Computer Science, said the contest is important in encouraging students to consider STEM (science, technology, engineering, math) careers. “I think the competition's been really beneficial for schools that need opportunities in STEM programs but don't necessarily have the financial means to do so,” Cox said.
