Alabama Media Group is shifting the printing of the Birmingham News and Huntsville Times to out-of-state entities. Starting in January, the Birmingham News will be printed in Atlanta by Cox, the company that owns the Atlanta Journal-Constitution. The Huntsville Times will be printed in Nashville by Gannett, parent company of the The Tennessean. The move will result in the loss of 89 production jobs, including many part-time positions, according to a statement from the company.
