KINGSTON — One by one, the “new moms” pulled up in their vehicles — usually an SUV — and started to unload. They grabbed the baby carrier, with baby in tow, and at least two other bags of essentials that, apparently, all new mothers must have with them at all times. The mothers were bringing their babies to a meeting of the “New Moms Social Club” — formed by the Luzerne Intermediate Unit and Pediatric Associates of Kingston to offer information and support on various topics for new mothers. Billed as “the only club in town where moms and babies socialize with each other,” about 15 mothers and their babies — up to 6 months old — get together with facilitator Lynn Pons, a licensed clinical social worker, to discuss issues. Pons said the club provides a forum for the new moms for: • Information about their baby’s development • Friendship and support with other new moms • Moms sharing their experiences and stories • A fun group with a relaxing atmosphere Dr.
