$845K settlement: Penn Health System resolves improper Medicare billing claim

The University of Pennsylvania Health System has agreed to pay the government $845,000 to settle a voluntary disclosure of improper Medicare billing by two doctors at one of its hospitals. The settlement, announced by the U.S. Attorney’s office, involved the actions of two interventional cardiologists who improperly billed Medicare for stent procedures performed at Pennsylvania Hospital in Philadelphia between 2008 and 2012.
