Oklahoma regulators put new limits on Arbuckle disposal wells

By Paul Monies Business Writer pmonies@oklahoman.comOklahoma oil and gas regulators issued new limits Friday on the disposal of wastewater into the deep Arbuckle layer, a move they said would give additional flexibility to well operators while lowering future risks of induced earthquakes. The Oklahoma Corporation Commission said the volume limits were mandatory and gave operators 30 days to comply. Regulators said the rates of earthquakes have dropped since they stepped up their oversight of disposal well volumes into the Arbuckle, the deepest layer of sedimentary rock and a longtime, popular target of wastewater disposal.Read more on NewsOK.com
