Head of Hawaiian Electric Industries gets bump in compensation

Connie Lau, the head of Hawaiian Electric Industries Inc., one of the state’s largest public companies, received a total compensation of about $3.1 million in 2016, up from $2.7 million in 2015, according to public filings Thursday. The president and CEO of HEI (NYSE: HE), whose subsidiaries include Hawaiian Electric Co., the state’s largest utility and American Savings Bank, one of the largest banks in Hawaii, had a base salary of $864,700 last year, with stock awards of $648,531.
