Denver police officer John Adsit will step out in his blue uniform one last time Thursday morning as he pays respect to fallen officers during the department’s annual memorial service. His name easily could have been among those etched into the granite monument outside Denver Police Department headquarters. Adsit is taking medical retirement this week as a result of injuries suffered in December 2014 when he was struck by a car while escorting an East High School student march held in solidarity with protesters in Ferguson, Mo.
