Judge: Prosecutors did not try to cause mistrial in murder case but were 'sloppy'

PROVIDENCE, R.I. -- A Superior Court judge ruled Friday that prosecutors did not intentionally provoke a mistrial in the case of a 58-year-old man charged with the murder of his girlfriend, but faulted them for their "sloppy, misguided and cavalier" attitude to their obligations to turn over exculpatory evidence under the law."This is nothing short of a trial by ambush," Judge Kristin E.
