Comment on WV Governor's Office announces investigation of late audits

Jim Justice, outlined Friday an investigation to determine accountability for late filings of state higher education audits with the U.S. Department of Education, an omission that is resulting in $245 million of penalties in reduced federal funding for Pell grants and federally subsidized student loans for state colleges and universities. "At the Governor's direction, we are thoroughly reviewing the circumstances that led to the delay of the final completion and filing of the State's single audit for the last three years to find out exactly who is responsible," Casey said in a statement.
