By Staff reports Authorities recovered a body from the Kanawha River just before noon on Thursday. A tugboat crew spotted the body near Blaine Island in South Charleston at about 11:10 p.m., a Kanawha County dispatcher said. As of Thursday afternoon, it was unclear whether authorities recovered a man or a woman. South Charleston police officers remained on the river bank with the body at 1:30 p.m. Police closed a concrete boat ramp off Riverside Drive, near the intersection of Jefferson Road. The scene was located near Riverwalk Plaza, and across the river from Shamblin Stone.
