Early morning fire near Marengo completely destroys barn, kills 'a lot' of chickens

MARENGO – A bystander woke up a family to alert them that their barn had caught fire early Tuesday morning near Marengo. Marengo firefighters responded around 5:45 a.m. Tuesday to Dunham Road and Route 176 in Seneca Township for a reported structure fire, Marengo Fire Chief Robert Bradbury said. A bystander had awoken the family whose barn had caught fire, and the owner said it was fully involved when he first saw the blaze. It took firefighters roughly 90 minutes to get the fire under control, Bradbury said, and the large barn was completely destroyed.
