Anne Raeff’s ‘Winter’: family life, postwar and post-mom

Anne Raeff began writing “Winter Kept Us Warm” soon after the release of her first novel, “Clara Mondschein’s Melancholia.” That was some 15 years ago. It’s only fitting that the new novel would exist in a process of writing and rewriting for so many years before coming to fruition. “Winter Kept Us Warm,” published by Berkeley’s Counterpoint Press, focuses on the decades that pass among three people, beginning in post-World War II Berlin and stretching to modern-day Morocco.
