Judge Greer to retire, assume senior status

GREENEVILLE — U.S. District Judge Ronnie Greer has announced his plans to retire to senior status later this summer. Greer, who hails from Mountain City, has served as a federal judge in the U.S. District Court in Greeneville since 2003. According to a press release, Greer notified the president that he plans to retire as of June 30. Although he will vacate his active position on the bench, Greer will continue to serve as a senior judge with a reduced caseload.
