WOODSTOCK – A man who police said smuggled pain and anxiety medication into the McHenry County Jail remained at the facility Friday. Officers arrested 19-year-old Nicholas B. Hitztaler on Wednesday after he missed a court appearance on felony drug charges, according to a news release from the McHenry County Sheriff’s Office sent Friday. Hitztaler was charged in December with possessing more than 15 grams of heroin. When police searched Hitztaler before letting him in the jail Thursday, 18 pills bundled in a wad of tissue paper fell out of his clothes, the release stated. The man told police he already had taken 11 pills, according to the news release. Hitztaler was placed under a 72-hour watch.
