Congress grills Brightline president at hearing on safety, federal financing

Brightline President Patrick Goddard last week faced withering questioning by U.S. representatives during a congressional hearing on the passenger rail service's request for federally subsidized financing. Billed as the nation's first privately funded, "intercity" passenger rail system, Brightline is expected to cost more than $3 billion, with stops in Miami, Fort Lauderdale and West Palm Beach and, eventually, a connection to Orlando International Airport.
