CORALVILLE — Authorities are investigating an assault on a correctional officer at the Iowa Medical Classification Center in Coralville, according to a news release from the Iowa Department of Corrections on Wednesday. The incident occurred at approximately 6:15 p.m., Tuesday. The inmate was refused directives from the prison guard, and then rushed the guard while “swinging closed fists” as the guard approached, according to the news release.
