Macomb Township Trustee Nancy Nevers recently defended her decision to write a letter of character reference for former Trustee Clifford Freitas during a meeting of the Macomb Township Board of Trustees. Freitas, 44, is scheduled to be sentenced May 31 after pleading guilty last year to conspiracy to commit bribery.
