Shelby Township opens splash pad at Chief Gene Shepherd Park

On a perfect, sun-splashed day, Shelby Township simultaneously opened a brand-new community splash pad and officially closed an ugly legal chapter in the community's history.Following a little pomp and circumstance, Shelby Township resident Emi Gonzalez, a kindergarten student at Messmore Elementary School, pushed a button that shot water into the air, formally opening the Chief Gene Shepherd Splash Pad at the former Soccer City site on 23 Mile Road near Dequindre.
