Suit filed over dockworker killed by ship line at Port of Longview

Days after a 34-year-old dockworker was killed when a mooring line on a cargo ship suddenly snapped at the Port of Longview, his widow has filed a $15 million wrongful death lawsuit against the ship’s owner and managing company. Byron J. Jacobs died Thursday. He worked as a longshoreman for 17 years and earned about $125,000 at the time of his death.
