When it comes to history, virtually no index tops the Dow Jones Industrial Average (DJINDICES: ^DJI). Despite its well-known flaws, the 122-year-old Dow is older than every other U.S. index, save for the Dow Jones Transportation Index, and Wall Street and investors alike look to it to provide insight into the health of the U.S.
