Hiker rescued from rock ledge in Clear Creek Canyon

A portion of westbound Sixth Avenue was closed in Clear Creek Canyon on Friday afternoon as emergency responders rescued a stranded hiker. The highway shut down before 2 p.m. between the intersection of Colorado 58 and Colorado 93 to Colorado 119, according to the Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office, so emergency equipment could be used in the rescue. The aid included a high-angle rescue, with emergency workers using ropes to extract the hiker, who was stuck on a ledge, said Jenny Fulton, a sheriff’s spokeswoman.
