In the fall of 2016, Newtown Police Chief Tom Synan got a desperate call from a father trying to save his daughter from heroin. Dominique represented a microcosm of the growing opioid epidemic. Synan vowed to help. As the two bonded, Synan wrote this poem, ‘She has a name. She has a father.’
