The Country Music Hall of Famer, who was born in Norman and bred in Oklahoma City, will put on a hometown show Saturday at the Civic Center Music Hall, where early in his career, he and a group of fellow bluegrass musicians had an, um, unforgettable experience opening for a rowdy band of rock ‘n' roll legends. “I said, ‘I really would love to play the Civic Center if I could,' and they said, ‘Well why?' And I said, ‘Well, I really need to exorcise the demon of opening for KISS in that building,' ” Gill recalled with a laugh. “This was last minute, the opening act had canceled, and somebody called scrambling, looking for an opener — and so it was our turn in the barrel.Read more on NewsOK.com
