PORT JERVIS – City police have charged a 44-year-old Port Jervis man in an attempted sexual assault.According to police, a 29-year-old woman told them she was walking on West Main Street near Clark Street at 1 a.m. Monday when she was grabbed from behind and dragged down a steep bank leading to the D&H Canal tow path.The woman told police the suspect physically assaulted her and tried to sexually assault her, but she struggled with the man and he ran away.
