MIDDLETOWN — Some students at Middletown High School begin eating lunch a few hours after breakfast. Others wait until nearly an hour before school lets out to have a midday meal.The elongated lunch schedule, five periods from about 9:50 a.m. to 1 p.m., is due to the school's burgeoning student population. About 2,200 are estimated to be enrolled at the high school this year.
