Facebook has approached a handful of cybersecurity companies about an acquisition, possibly before the end of the year, The Information reports, citing two unnamed sources. This, after Facebook admitted that hackers stole personal information from 30 million accounts in September — the company’s biggest data breach to date. Rolling up a cybersecurity company would help Facebook acquire new, security-focused engineering DNA, and give the company a PR boost.
