KINGSPORT — A tractor trailer carrying “several thousand gallons” of motor oil in quart containers crashed into the disabled Averett University football team bus from Danville, Virginia, Saturday night on Interstate 81 in Kingsport. The crash blocked northbound traffic on Interstate 81 at mile marker 62, but authorities said the bus already had been evacuated and was empty at the time of the crash.
