MIsinformation biggest threat to elections, Oklahoma official says

By Chris CasteelStaff writer ccasteel@oklahoman.comAs the U.S. House prepared to take up an election security bill, Oklahoma state Election Board Secretary Paul Ziriax said Tuesday that states should have the latitude to design their own systems. “I encourage federal policy makers to keep in mind that each state is different,” Ziriax said in testimony in Washington, D.C., to House Science, Space and Technology subcommittees. “Imposing ‘one size fits all’ mandates on the states for election policies or election security procedures will be disruptive and expensive, will risk setting up state and local election officials for failure and will likely create an adversarial relationship at a time when a cooperative partnership is needed.” The House may consider an election security bill this week that would direct money to states to protect their systems from tampering.Read more on NewsOK.com
