A tornado warning was in effect for portions of southeastern McHenry and Lake County until 7:45 p.m. Wednesday evening. This included Cary, Island Lake, Wauconda and Waukegan. The warning started about 6:53 p.m. According to the National Weather Service, a severe thunderstorm capable of producing a tornado was located over Wauconda. It was moving 30 mph.
