Comment on McHenry County College to discuss $7 per credit hour tuition hike

McHenry County College’s Board of Education will meet Thursday to discuss raising its tuition costs by $7 a credit hour. Students currently pay $126.75 per credit and the proposed new rate is $133.75, according to board documents. College officials estimate the tuition raise will bring in an additional $723,863 in revenue. MCC President Clinton Gabbard said in a memo to the board that the increase was necessary to “help support continuing operations.” “The tuition increase does not fully address all the operating fund issues, but it will help mitigate any operating budget constraints to a manageable level,” Gabbard said.
